6 simple steps to clean up & improve your PC’s performance

Most of the PC’s problems can be avoided by following a simple maintenance routine at least once a week. I have seen many people unaware of windows built in utilities to maintain their PC’s performance.These simple procedures if followed regularly can save you of unpleasant surprises down the line. Majority of common users are unaware of these utilities. so here I am jotting down these six step maintenance program for the benefit of
common users. This maintenance procedure could take considerable time, so try to schedule it in your spare time when your PC is not in use.Do not forget to set restore points before carrying out maintenance. Here we go
Step 1: Check disk: It’s a windows utility which checks for and repairs error or problems on the disk. To perform scan disk.

Go to My Computer > right click on C drive > properties > tool > under the error checking click check now.

Step 2: Disk Cleanup: This windows utility helps in removing unnecessary files from the disk. To run disk clean up.

Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Clean Up > select the drive you want to clean up then click OK.

Step 3: Defragmentation: The computer Hard drive usually begins to fragment with time. The programs working together gets fragmented due to usage. The defragmenter pulls together the programs in working order. For Defragmenting.

Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter > You can click analyze to confirm if your disk requires defragmentation or can directly start defragmentation.

Step 4: Delete unused files/Programs: You must regularly get rid of files/folders/Programs that you no more use, it helps in freeing up space on the disk. If you are regular internet user make sure to clean temporary internet files regularly. for cleaning up Temporary files.

Go to Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options > Under General Tab

there is a option of Temporary Internet Files. Click the Delete Tab

Step 5: Install updates regularly: Microsoft gives software & security updates regularly, keep your system up to date by installing these regular updates. Enable Firewall while using the internet.

Step 6: Run Antivirus regularly: Sometimes a virus can slow down your PC’s performance, so regularly run a Antivirus. Moreover I suggest a Malicious software Removal Tool like Windows Malicious software Removal Tool or Spyware Doctor.
